Key Verse

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." — Acts 1:8

Today's Study

Jesus had risen from the dead, appeared to His disciples for forty days, and now stood with them on the Mount of Olives. But before He ascended, He gave them one final, crucial instruction: Wait.

The disciples were eager. "Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?" They still thought in earthly terms — politics, power, a throne. But Jesus redirected their gaze. The Kingdom He was building wouldn't come through a military coup. It would spread through witnesses, from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Then He was gone — taken up in a cloud before their eyes.

Two angels appeared and said: "Why do you stand looking into heaven?" There's no time to be mesmerized by what has passed. The mission is ahead. Jesus promised He would return. But until then, there is work to do.
