Mission Appalachia
Be the Church. Live the Gospel.
Develop house churches throughout the local communities. Proclaim Jesus. Serve practically as His hands and feet.
Mission Appalachia invites committed believers to live and serve on a missions team in Eastern Kentucky for one- or two-year terms, with the possibility of renewal.
Following the pattern of the earliest church, residents gather in homes, share life together, make disciples, and proclaim the Gospel through both word and deed.
What could God do through a year of your life?
"Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown."
— Luke 4:24
Jesus Himself was overlooked by the people who knew Him best. Often, the gifts God has given you are hardest to see in the place where you grew up, where people remember who you were but not yet who God is making you.
Stepping into a new community, under a recognized biblical culture, can be exactly what frees your gifts to be received. Here your talents, your testimony, and your willingness to serve can be seen fresh, appreciated, and put to use for the Kingdom, without the weight or concern of others judgement or opinions based on possible preconceptions.
Live in the Field. Advance the Gospel. Build the Church.
Mission Appalachia is an immersive, on-site missionary opportunity for believers willing to relocate to Eastern Kentucky and dedicate one or two years to advancing the Gospel through intentional, community-based ministry.
This is not a short-term mission trip or an occasional outreach event. It is a commitment to live and serve in the mission field, working alongside other missionaries to establish house churches, make disciples, evangelize communities, and meet the spiritual and practical needs of people throughout Appalachia.
Missionaries become actively involved in the communities they serve—developing relationships, sharing the Gospel, leading Bible studies and prayer gatherings, organizing outreach initiatives, serving families in need, and helping establish sustainable, locally led communities of believers.
Inspired by the example of the early church in the book of Acts, our mission is not simply to bring people into church buildings, but to see the Church established and flourishing within the communities themselves.
Mission Appalachia is an invitation to enter the field, proclaim Jesus Christ, make disciples, and help build a lasting Gospel presence throughout Appalachia.
Gather. Share. Serve.
Develop house churches.
Help establish gatherings where people can know Jesus and know one another. Work alongside your team and local residents to bring neighbors together for prayer, Scripture, fellowship, shared meals, and discipleship. Help equip local hosts and leaders to carry the work forward.
Spread the Gospel.
Share the good news of Jesus Christ with clarity, compassion, and courage. Listen to people’s stories, explain the hope found in His death and resurrection, and invite them to respond in repentance and faith. Walk alongside new believers as they learn to follow Jesus.
Be His hands and feet.
Put love into action through community outreach, practical help, hospitality, prayer, and encouragement. Listen to local needs, care for people with dignity, and follow through. Let your everyday actions give substance to the Gospel you proclaim.
Live the mission together.
Mission Appalachia members serve selflessly as members of The Early Church missions team, receiving guidance, team placement in a Christian environment, housing during their active term, and meals or meal stipend.
Commitments usually are one or two year terms, with renewal by mutual agreement. Specific benefits, assignments and housing arrangements are discussed and agreed upon before acceptance and placement.
Team members are responsible for transportation, healthcare, utilities, clothing, and miscellaneous personal expenses.
A mission supported by people who believe in it.
This is an independent, self-supported mission program.
Team members raise their own sponsorship through friends, family, churches, and supporters who believe in the mission. We provide fundraising materials, coaching, and guidance to help you share the vision and build a support network. Each team member remains responsible for securing their support.
Financial requirements and mission terms will be provided before you make a commitment.
