Romans

Paul opens his letter to the Romans with one of the most electrifying declarations in all of Scripture: "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16). This is not polite religious talk. This is a war cry. Paul had seen the Gospel overturn empires, shatter chains, and raise the spiritually dead. He knew what it could do. The Gospel is not a self-help program. It is not a moral framework. It is dynamite — the very power of God unleashed into the human soul. The word Paul uses for "power" is *dunamis* — from which we get "dynamite." God's Gospel is an explosive, life-altering force. Paul declares that in this Gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed — a righteousness that is received through faith from first to last. This was the earthquake beneath the Reformation. This is the heartbeat of Christianity. We don't earn our way to God. We receive what He freely gives. Are you living like the Gospel is truly that powerful? Or have you reduced it to background noise?
