Mothers Day has a way of bringing many different emotions to the surface. For some, it is fufillment and happiness. For others, hurt and grief. For some women, it is the celebration of strength. For others, it is the quiet ache of prayers, scars, failures, or seasons they barely survived. Yet throughout scripture, one truth remains beautifully clear: God sees women differently than the world often does. He does not discard the broken. He restores them. He does not overlook the overlooked. He elevates them.
In the Bible, some of the most powerful stories of faith, courage, healing, and redemption came through women.
Mary Magdalene was once known for her torment and bondage, yet Jesus restored her so completely that she became one of the first witnesses of the resurrection. A woman once shattered by darkness became a messenger of hope.
Ruth was a grieving widow and outsider, yet God honored her loyalty and faithfulness, weaving her into the very lineage of Christ. Her story reminds us that God can build a future from what feels like total loss.
Hannah carried deep heartbreak and silent tears, crying out to God from a wounded place. But the Lord saw her, answered her, and used her life to help shape the future of Israel through her son, Samuel.
Esther was an orphaned young woman who likely never imagined she would stand before kings. Yet God positioned her for such a time as that, using her courage to protect an entire people.
And then there is Mary, a humble young woman entrusted with carrying the Savior of the world. Heaven itself chose a woman to nurture, protect, and raise Jesus during His earthly life.
Again and again, scripture reveals that God honors women. He strengthens them. He heals them. He entrusts them with influence, leadership, compassion, wisdom, and spiritual power. He draws near to the hurting woman, the faithful woman, the weary mother, the praying grandmother, the single mother, the restored woman, and the woman quietly carrying burdens nobody else sees.
The world may measure value by perfection, status, beauty, or success. But God looks at the heart.
This Mothers Day, remember: God has always used imperfect women to accomplish extraordinary things. Not because they had flawless pasts, but because they surrendered their lives to Him. Some were broken. Some were afraid. Some were grieving. Some felt unseen. Yet God called them beloved, worthy, chosen, and useful in His hands.
To every strong woman, every tired woman, every healing woman, every praying mother, and every woman trying to hold her family together while carrying her own wounds... Heaven sees you.
And the same God who restored women throughout scripture is still restoring, healing, elevating, and calling women today.
