Jesus is worth “failing” and looking silly for.

Mark 16:17-18, Luke 10:19

The amount of knowledge we need to see the sick healed and demons driven out by His authority is actually pretty small.

I was recently thinking about the disciples.

Most of them were uneducated scholarly, and all were uneducated in the idea and new commission of Jesus. They had no clue what they were doing. They had simply spent enough time with Him that they began to act as He had acted and do as He had done, because everything that Jesus did just worked!

Isn’t the same true for us?  Don’t we just need to know Him, to act as He acted, to do as He did, and to be obedient to what He told us to do?

Our faith and our passion helps move life's mountains. And interestingly, the amount of knowledge we need to see the sick healed and demons driven out by His authority is actually pretty small. A couple of Bible verses can set the stage (Mark 16:17-18; Luke 10:19).

So the knowledge needed is simplistic. And we need childlike faith, being certain that we will have what we ask for.

Unfortunately, most Christians seem to ruminate on the knowledge aspect, perhaps out of fear or insecurity. They want to know everything before they do the basic things Jesus told them to do.

We fly in airplanes, travel on boats, and drive cars that most of us will never understand the mechanics of or how they function. We just trust that they will, and most of the time, they do. You get my point.

I’m not suggesting that we shouldn’t fill ourselves with the knowledge, teachings, and Word of God. We absolutely should. My point is that faith without works is dead.

Satan does not care if we believe Jesus still heals the sick, so long as we don’t make a practice of it. It has no impact on him if we believe Jesus still frees people from demonic oppression but we aren’t bold enough to put that belief into practice.

We can have all the knowledge in the world and still remain useless to the Kingdom.

So far at The Creek, we’ve seen many demons cast out; heart wounds carried for a lifetime healed; the near-dead brought back to life three times now; and backs healed. We’ve seen autoimmune disorders cast out, and depression, anxieties, ideations, and addictions taken away. We’ve watched God heal leukemia and lupus, remove years of trauma, save the lost, and open doors for the homeless.

These situations aren’t exaggerated. They have been experienced and can be confirmed by a number of our members, alongside the people healed by heaven themselves.

One of the reasons I believe God began opening these doors for me personally is that I decided not to be educated beyond my obedience. I simply began learning as I went, as the Holy Spirit taught me. He has not stopped teaching me on the job. For many Christians, the desire to know everything before they act stems from a spirit of fear: fear of failure, fear of looking silly, or the big one, fear of judgment.

Jesus is worth “failing” and looking silly for.

Sure, there will be times when you may be left holding the bag. This is your testing. Will you remain faithful, trusting in the One who called you to obedience, even when you don’t get the result you expected?

I know exactly what that feels like. I also know what it feels like when you ask God to move and He answers in power. That feeling of being an instrument of God, of seeing someone meet Jesus or experience His love and grace, partly because you were submitted and obedient… that feeling is next level.

We know the will of God through Scripture. Our prayers should align with the will He left for us to execute. We are the executors. We were given His parting commands.

When we act on that knowledge, ask in faith, and align our physical world with what has already been ordained in the spiritual, the two often collide in miraculous ways.

Pray for people this week with complete confidence in what you know God’s wishes to be. Pray with uncontested boldness about what you know His will to be. Expect the miraculous, and watch Him move. Signs and wonders follow those who believe, and those things are just the dinner bell for the true Gospel!

Pray for someone today, and watch how God may move; the formula is simple. Take the step!
