Lately, the Holy Spirit has been reshaping something in me that I didn’t even realize needed to change.
For a long time, I believed abiding in Christ meant doing all the right Christian things… reading my Bible, praying faithfully, serving others, and maintaining spiritual discipline. Those things are good, necessary, and life-giving. But I’ve been discovering they were never meant to be the foundation of my relationship with Him.
Jesus really wants us to stop striving and start abiding.
To remember who He is.
To remember what He has already accomplished on the cross.
And to remember who we already are because of Him.
I’ve spent far too much time asking, “Lord, what else can I do?” when He has really just been inviting me to simply remain with Him.
Abiding isn’t about earning His presence., it’s about resting in it. Developing the knowing and understanding of relationship and truth in His words
It’s living from acceptance instead of working for acceptance. It’s walking in the identity Christ has already secured rather than constantly trying to prove devotion. That shift will change your walk with Jesus.
Closeness with God has to be earned. He wants it more than you do. And, He has already made the way.
“Remain in Me, and I will remain in you.” -John 15:4
If that’s where you’ve been, I pray this encourages your heart today.
