At some point in our marriage, we apparently crossed into a new season of Christianity… What makes me think this? Because, before the gathering of our small men’s group at my house this evening, my wife just looked me squarely in the eye and said, “Absolutely no casting demons out in the house tonight.”
Like it was:
“No muddy boots inside.”
“No roughhousing near the table.”
“No exorcisms in the living room.” 🤷♂️
This was in jest, but the wild part is how normal these conversations are starting to become. It’s like, all of the sudden, we just understand that it is part of our duty as surrendered Christians... it’s just becoming part of normal life now. And the movement of God, the power in the name of Jesus, never ceases to fail or amaze!
This might be confusing to some folks in our circle, because we aren’t overly charismatic. I've heard others best describe our views as being non-denominationally charismatic but with a seat belt. We’re much more middle of the road.
But when the dam opened organically, by the will, grace, and direction of God, it just began happening. And it isn’t weird. It isn’t really theatrical, and we try to prevent spectacle. It’s true encounter. True deliverance. We’re just believers watching the Holy Spirit move in powerful, undeniable ways. People getting healed. People getting set free. People encountering Jesus for real.
To me, this is a sign of the times. There’s no question that it doesn’t feel a lot like how I imagine the early Church in the book of Acts, all over again.
The early church didn’t just gather for polished services and inspirational talks- they carried the presence of God. There were signs. Wonders. Deliverance. Salvations. Boldness. Awe.
And I genuinely believe we are stepping into a season where the Church starts looking less like a production… and more like the early Church again.
The Holy Spirit is moving, and with reasons that many of us are beginning to tune into- the end of age is nearing. But with this movement, Jesus is displaying His love and power in undeniable ways, setting people free like never before. And He is powerfully using His people to bring His kingdom to earth. Apparently, according to my wife... just not in the living room anymore. 🤷♂️🔥
Reference the following scriptures... I can say, there's no denying this for me, especially after it has so intimately became a part of my own testimony. I am certain that this is still a part of the commission, nay the expectation, in which we have been given as people of faith... even still today:
Mark 16:17 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…”
Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power… over all the power of the enemy…”
Matthew 10:1 Jesus “gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out…”
Luke 9:1 “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils…”
When you read these passages together, is the New Testament treats deliverance as real, not sensationalized. The focus is consistently on:
the authority of Jesus,
compassion for afflicted people,
freedom and restoration,
and dependence on the Holy Spirit rather than hype or fear.
If you aren't in the camp of believing... buckle your seatbelt. The Holy Spirit is on the move and you do not want to be caught off guard!
