I've been thinking a lot lately about how often we wait.
We wait until we feel more qualified. We wait until we're less afraid. We wait until our doubts disappear. We wait for a sign, another confirmation, or the perfect moment to finally do what we already know God has asked us to do.
But more and more I am convinced that God has never asked His people to wait until obedience feels comfortable.
Noah started building while the sky was still blue.
Abraham packed his belongings before he knew the destination.
Peter climbed over the side of the boat while the waves were still crashing around him.
None of them acted because they felt fearless. They acted because they believed God was worthy of their trust.
I wonder how many opportunities we've missed because we mistook fear for God's direction. How many conversations we've avoided. How many people we've walked past. How many prayers we've left unspoken because we were waiting for confidence instead of simply choosing obedience.
Hebrews tells us that "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Faith has never been about having all the answers. It's about taking the next step when God has already spoken.
Maybe that's where you are today. Maybe God has been nudging you to encourage someone, to serve someone, to forgive someone, to share the Gospel, or simply to step out in a way that feels uncomfortable.
Don't wait until the fear is gone, move anyway.
The courage you're looking for often comes after the first step, not before it.
The world doesn't need more Christians who are waiting for the perfect moment. It needs followers of Jesus who trust Him enough to obey, even when the outcome is uncertain.
So if God has placed something on your heart, don't spend another week talking yourself out of it. Trust Him. Take the step and leave the results in His hands.
One simple act of obedience, surrendered to God, can become the beginning of a story that only He could write.
