A Simple Rhythm

Ready-to-use templates for your weekly gathering — from the standard rhythm to themed variations for different seasons.

The Standard Template

60–90 minutes. This is the core rhythm. Use it every week until it becomes muscle memory.

🍽️

Eat

15–20 min

Break bread. Be human.

"Open with something simple: "Thanks for being here. Let's eat together and share what's on our hearts.""

Share a meal or snack. This is not about perfect food — it's about presence. People relax around tables. Use this time to settle in, catch up, and create space for the Spirit.

📖

Word

15–20 min

Read Scripture. What stood out? What is God saying?

"Say: "We're going to read [passage] together. As we read, what word or phrase catches your attention?""

Read a passage (3–5 minutes max). Then ask: "What verse or phrase stood out to you?" Go around the circle — no pressure to speak. Listen. Don't teach or explain everything. Let the Word do its work.

Sample Discussion Questions

  • • What did you notice in this passage?
  • • How does this connect to your week?
  • • Is God saying anything to you through this?
  • • How might we live this out?
🔥

Prayer

15–25 min

Not passive. Bold. Intercessory.

"Say: "Let's bring everything before the Father — our burdens, our thanksgivings, our prayers for others. Feel free to pray out loud or silently.""

Not a moment of silence. Real prayer. Pray for each other, for the lost, for boldness, for the church. People can pray out loud, silently, or write. Make space for lamentation and intercession — not just thanksgiving.

Activation

10–15 min

Who are you reaching this week? What step are you taking?

"Say: "Before we close, who are you reaching this week? What one step are you taking? We're not spectators — we're sent.""

This is where it becomes mission. Everyone shares one action they'll take this week — invite someone, have a spiritual conversation, pray for a neighbor, serve. It doesn't have to be big. But everyone participates.

Themed Variations

Adapt the rhythm for different seasons and situations. Each variation adjusts one or more sections.

Leader Tips

Keep it moving — don't get stuck on one section. The rhythm matters more than perfection.

Embrace silence. Not every moment needs words. Give space for the Spirit to work.

Don't over-prepare. Overly polished gatherings feel cold. Simple and authentic beats scripted.

Everyone participates. No passive observers. Make sure quieter members know their voice matters.

Close strong. Don't just fade out. End with prayer, a challenge, or a clear next step.

Track what works and what doesn't. Over time, you'll find the rhythm that fits your group.
